To promote standards of excellence in infusion care practices.
Our mission is in line with our vision:
The Infusion Nurses Society Malaysia (INSM) is a professional association that promotes best practices in infusion therapy management. As a national organisation, the society coordinates the activities of nurses interested in this speciality. INSM also fosters collaboration and friendship with local and international corporate organisations and others with similar interests.
INSM acknowledges that the fundamental theoretical knowledge required for safe infusion therapy may not be comprehensively addressed in the nursing diploma or basic degree programs. Misinformation and the lack of technical proficiency have resulted in notable variations between theoretical preparedness and practical application.
Practices are also inconsistent among different organisations and even within the same organisation due to the absence of national standards of practice. This lack of standardisation makes advocating for best practices to improve clinical outcomes challenging. However, by recognising the urgency and importance of this issue, INSM is unwavering in its commitment to standardising infusion therapy practices.
INSM strongly believes that policies and procedures related to infusion therapy management should be up-to-date and in line with the latest standards. INSM supports implementing structured training programs for new nurses during orientation and regular updates for all nurses based on new evidence. INSM aims to ensure that only clinical nurses specialising in infusion therapy management carry out training programs and competency assessments.
To achieve our vision and mission we will have a core set of values to inspire and guide our members.
We will dedicate ourselves to lifelong learning and continuously improve our programs and services.
We will always prioritise honesty and transparency in all activities to build trust and respect from our team and stakeholders.
We will collaborate with external partners locally and internationally to enhance infusion therapy practices.
We will establish a supportive environment that fosters professional growth and advancement for nurses interested in infusion therapy management.
